Overnight in Luang Prabang
Start the day with a drive from Luang Prabang to the nearby valley southeast of the city. Upon arrival at Long Lao village, begin your hiking tour with an exploration of the local Khamu and Hmong cultures. The trail takes you through fields, vegetable gardens, and into forested mountains with steep climbs and wild scenery. En route, discover an interesting cave, used as a bomb shelter during the Second Indochina War. By early afternoon, reach the crystal-clear springs feeding the famous Kuang Si waterfall. A short walk brings you to the waterfall’s base, where you can enjoy a refreshing swim. Visit the bear sanctuary at the falls, managed by an NGO dedicated to animal care. In the afternoon, return to Luang Prabang.

In the evening, embark on a scenic sunset cruise along the Mekong River aboard the Khopfa boat.
Overnight in Luang Prabang
Take a morning ride on Laos’ modern high-speed train, which offers scenic views of the countryside on your way to Vang Vieng in just one hour. Upon arrival, your driver will transfer you to your hotel. After check-in, embark on a short but steep hike to the Namxay Viewpoint, where you’ll be rewarded with stunning 360-degree views of the surrounding area. The well-maintained trail includes railings, making the climb safe. At the summit, a unique platform with shade provides a perfect spot to admire the breathtaking scenery.
Overnight in Vang Vieng
Transfer from Vang Vieng to the Khmu village of Vieng Samay, located about 10 km north of the city. After a brief introduction to kayaking, enjoy paddling down the Nam Song River, navigating fun rapids along the way. Your first stop is Tham Nam Thaem Cave, which cuts through the mountain, offering panoramic views of the Nam Kouang Valley on the other side. A short trek over a small pass leads to a Lao-style picnic lunch by the riverside. Continue kayaking to the Organic Farm, where you can sample mulberry tea and fruit wines. Your final stop is the Tham Non Cave, one of the largest caves in Vang Vieng, known for its bat colony and historical significance as a shelter during the Second Indochina War. After a gentle paddle, return to Vang Vieng in time to catch the sunset from the terrace of the Ban Sabai Riverside Bungalows.

Catch an afternoon train from Vang Vieng to Vientiane, arriving in less than an hour. After reaching the capital, explore major sights, starting with Wat Sisaket, known for its cloister wall housing thousands of Buddha images. Next, visit the Royal Temple of Wat Prakeo, followed by the Patuxai Victory Gate, reminiscent of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. Finally, visit the iconic Golden That Luang Stupa, the most important national monument in Laos and a sacred symbol of Buddhism.
Overnight in Vientiane
Depart from your hotel at 7:30 AM, arriving at Ban Hatkhay village by 9:30 AM, where local guides will be ready after preparing a picnic. Travel by vehicle to Say Pha, passing through rice fields before entering the park. The trek begins at Orchid Pha Say, where you’ll explore various forest types, including semi-deciduous jungles and bamboo forests, guided by orchid experts. Marvel at the abundance of orchids covering the rocks, and learn about medicinal plants and other local flora. Enjoy a picnic in a dry riverbed, followed by a refreshing swim at the Tad Say waterfall before returning to Vientiane around 6:00 PM.
